Youthline is part of a National Helpline for Youth or those needing support with Youth. Youthline works with young people, their families and those supporting young people. Our organisations are made up of volunteer and paid staff members - and we have centres based across the country.

We were established to ensure young people know where to get help and can access support when they need it. At the core of Youthline’s work is the development of leadership and personal skills in young people. We do this by involving young people; both those who seek assistance and those who wish to develop themselves.

    Youthline Helpline

It's normal to worry about asking for help - but at Youthline we are here to listen and help you figure out what is right for you. We know that it can be a bit freaky and that you might have a lot of questions about how the service works before you ring, so we've put together some answers commonly asked questions so you know what to expect when you contact us.

Face to Face Counselling and Psychotherapy Services

Everyone has difficult experiences or feelings at some point in their lives, and it isn't always easy or useful to try to deal with them alone. Seeing someone face to face who can work with you in a confidential and safe environment can help you to better understand yourself, discover your strengths, make decisions, deal with difficult life events both present and past, cope with difficult feelings, improve your relationships and improve self-esteem.

Whether it's a counsellor or a youth worker that you would like to talk with, we can help you to do that. Face to face counselling and psychotherapy are available in some areas of New Zealand.
