WellSouth - B-Well, Falls & Fracture Prevention Team

On this page

The Falls and Fracture Prevention Team is a small team of nurses and allied health professionals.

Our team are passionate about keeping older people well and independent. Positive ageing is about providing the best quality of life for older people. A joint initiative by the Ministry of Health, Health Quality and Safety Commission and ACC aims to keep older adults safe on their feet and reduce injuries from falls.

    • Have you slipped, tripped or fallen in the past year?
    • Do you have to use your hands to get out of a chair?
    • Have you avoided some activities because you are afraid you might lose your balance?

The WellSouth Falls & Fracture Prevention Team offer a range of services which can help, see below:

See the WellSouth website for more information on our GP practices and all other health services.

Based on the Otago Exercise Programme, we support older adults at home with leg muscle strengthening and balance retraining exercises. The 12 week Programme focuses on supporting those aged over 75 years (>65 for Maori and Pacific Islanders) who have fallen in the last year, and who cannot access a community strength and balance class or group.
