    Tokomairiro Waiora Incorporated is a Kaupapa Māori Health Sevice providing Whānau Ora services in the South Otago rohe. We support whānau to achieve healthy, safe and independent living by providing a holistic service using tikanga Māori practices to address health and social needs.

    Our service is focused on Māori health but is open to all ethnicities. The key objective is to ensure existing health professionals and social services are coordinated and that Māori are assisted to better utilise the services that are available.

     

    Health Services

    Our focus is on the following high priority areas

    • General health & wellbeing

    We will provide / Kaimahi Whanau Ora:

    • To assist whanau in accessing health services
    • Information and resources
    • Co-ordinating community services
    • Link to social agencies
    • Home visits

     

    How we can help:

    Assistance

    • We can attend appointments at doctors, hospitals, agencies and providers to support you and your whānau
    • We offer advocacy support in attending appointments
    • Provide a safe supportive, caring environment

    Support

    Seek support from regional Māori health providers and community health services to:

    • Encourage lifestyle changes
    • Access information for at-risk whānau
    • Provide ongoing support
    • Link referrals to other health services as required

    Hauora Wānanga

    Health education and information from a Māori perspective.  Promoting and understanding of the Māori view of health in terms of:

    • Oranga tinana - physical wellbeing
    • Oranga wairua - spiritual wellbeing
    • Oranga hinengaro - mental wellbeing
    • Oranga whānau - family wellbeing
