    Stop provides community-based assessment and intervention services for adolescents and adults who have sexually harmed/sexually offended and to children who have engaged in concerning sexual behaviour.

    Our services are based in Christchurch, Nelson, Dunedin and Invercargill.


    Children's Service

    The Stop Children’s Service is aimed at helping primary and intermediate aged children who have engaged in concerning sexualised behaviour. The service is designed to provide effective intervention suitable for this age group, identifying the factors which have led to the concerning sexualised behaviour and addressing these factors.

    How to Access the Children's Service:

    Referrals are accepted from Oranga Tamariki, schools, health and community professionals, counsellors and Police.


    Adolescent Service

    The Stop Adolescent Service provides assessment and intervention for adolescents (12 to 18 years) who have sexually harmed or have concerning sexual behaviours.  The service has a team of specialist clinicians and social workers in Christchurch, Dunedin, Invercargill and Nelson.

    Region: The Stop Adolescent Service provides programmes in:

    • Christchurch
    • Dunedin and Invercargill
    • Nelson
    • A Changing Directions Programme in Christchurch provides assessment and intervention for adolescents with an intellectual disability or learning difficulties who have engaged in harmful sexual behaviour.

    How to Access the Adolescent Service:

    Girls' Service

    The Stop Girls’ Service addresses the issue of girls who are engaging in harmful sexual behaviour and provides assessment and intervention services by professional staff who receive specific training for this age group.

    Referrals are accepted from Oranga Tamariki, schools, health and community professionals, counsellors and the Police.


    Adult Service - Building Good Lives

    The Stop Adult Service provides community based assessments and programmes of intervention, tailored to the individual, for adult men and women over the age of 18 who have sexually harmed/sexually offended, regardless of whether they have been formally charged or convicted.

    Our Facing the Future programmes comprise group and or individual intervention, ranging from 6 to 12 months in duration.

    Services are also available for individuals with a learning disability. These programmes typically range in duration from 12 to 18 months.

    Our programmes include support and education for partners, family members and other key support people.

    Region: Our full range of services are available in Christchurch, Dunedin and Nelson.

    How to access the Adult Service:

    Referrals are accepted from government agencies including the Department of Corrections, Oranga Tamariki, health and community professionals, counsellors and the Police.
