    SPELD NZ is a not-for-profit organisation that specialises in assessment, individualised tuition and support for people with dyslexia and other specific learning disabilities. For more than 50 years, we’ve helped many thousands of New Zealand children and adults nationwide.  SPELD NZ also provides training and professional development for assessors, educators and families.  

    SPELD NZ methods are research based and proven to greatly enhance educational and cognitive ability.

    Services Provided

    Diagnostic assessment
    SPELD NZ is a leading provider of assessment, tuitionsupport and training services for specific learning disabilities (SLD), such as dyslexia.

    Our trained Assessors evalulate the skills involved in effective learning. Using the Woodcock-Johnson test batteries, they do an in-depth assesment of each individual. https://www.speld.org.nz/our-services/diagnostic-assessment





     
     
    One-to-one tuition for children and adults
    One-on-one specialised tuition for children and adults.  All SPELD NZ Teachers have completed our extensive training in specific learning disabilities.  They are fully qualified teachers with classroom experience;

    Training and professional development for families, assessors, teachers, SENCO, teacher aides and other educators;
    Information & support

    Information, resources, and support
    • Subsidies for those with Community Services Card or evidence of financial hardship;

    Charges

    Costs apply but subsidies are available with a valid Community Services Card (for parent/cargiver) or evidence of financial hardship.

    We are a charity and receive no government funding. We rely on memberships, donations and fundraising to maintain our services to the community.
