    Lighthouse Southland provide the following programmes/interventions and support:
    • Prevention of family violence programmes/interventions for those who self-refer (or are community referred) and are using violence or at risk of using violence.
    • Safety Programmes for those experiencing violence.
    • Group or individual programmes/interventions for those who have been referred by the Ministry of Justice or Department of Corrections.
    • Adolescent Programme for young people aged 12-17yrs using violence/aggressive behaviour.

    Staff

    Lighthouse is overseen by a Board and has a Manager, Practice Manager and Family Violence Practitioners.
    All of our team bring a wealth of skills, knowledge and experience.

    Services Provided

    Adolescent Programme

    L    Lighthouse Southland offers an Adolescent Programme to youth, aged 12-17yrs, who are struggling with violence and managing their behaviours. Our team can work with the young person in our offices or with them at their school (currently only Invercargill schools). Referrals can be made by schools, alternative education providers, police, health professionals, other agencies, government departments and parents and caregivers.

    This programme covers:

    Ø  Anger & Violence

    Ø  Empathy

    Ø  Self-management

    Ø  Respect & Values/Beliefs

    Ø  Communication & Relationships

    Ø  Self-esteem

    Ø  Wellbeing/Te Whare Tapa Whā

    Ø  Grief/Trauma.

     

    Non-Violence Programmes
    1. Group programmes for those who have been referred by the Ministry of Justice or Department of Corrections.
    Individual programmes are only offered to female clients and those, who are assessed by our practitioners, with needs requiring individual support.

    In our Non-Violence & Prevention of Family Violence Programmes we walk alongside people as they
    :

    Ø  Develop communication and conflict resolution skills

    Ø  Develop safety plans and goals

    Ø  Examine  thinking, behaviour and beliefs

    Ø  Explore intergenerational violence and its impacts

    Ø  Develop support structures to help maintain a non-violent lifestyle

    Ø  Explore wellbeing/Te Whare Tapa Whā.

     We work alongside all genders in our Non-Violence and Prevention of Family Violence Programmes.

    Safety Programmes

    We offer Safety Programmes and support for victims of violence/those experiencing violence. We provide quality advocacy and walk alongside as you:

    Ø  Work towards safety

    Ø  Develop goals, safety plans, supports and confidence

    Ø  Focus on the future

    Ø  Examine thinking and beliefs

    Ø  Explore wellbeing/Te Whare Tapa Whā.

    We work alongside all genders in our Safety Programme work.
