Jubilee Budget Advisory Service

On this page

Jubilee is all about - giving people HOPE – empowering them – to dream, to look outside the square – to set goals – to recognise their potential and to be the best that they can be.   To help them to break the “Poverty Mentality” that we are seeing way too often.  (Which is not always about money).

Jubilee Budget Advisory Service is a free and confidential service providing budgeting advice and education empowering our clients by building their financial capability and resilience in Southland since 1989.

We are a team of 20 providing one on one budgeting advice, ongoing budgeting assistance and quality education talks, tailored to the community organisation's needs. Trained experienced Financial Mentors build trust by taking time to understand the person’s story, circumstances, financial literacy and alleviate any crisis situations.  We help to create a financial plan, focusing on long-term growth, providing support by wrapping around whānau and other agencies, and empowering our clients to make decisions, set goals and build longer term capability. Our Kaihiringa team helps connect and provide critical activities that support whānau to achieve their dreams and aspirations, to build upon their journey to Mana Motuhake - to become self-determined to succeed.

In 2021, we commenced new services Jubilee SuperGrans and Te Ao Puawai (Pregnancy Support). Jubilee SuperGrans provides life skills workshops such as cooking, gardening, arts & crafts, house maintenance and car maintenance. This ensures essential life skills are passed on from one generation to the next, strengthening our participants skills and knowledge and giving them the confidence to make changes to the benefit of themselves and their whānau. Te Ao Puawai was established after the closure of Pregnancy Help in Invercargill. Te Ao Puawai supports mums during pregnancy, holds post-natal workshops and provides assistance including the option of rent to buy car seats and cots.

Our head office is based in Invercargill with appointments available in Gore, Te Anau and Bluff.
