    Hato Hone St John is a charitable organisation providing emergency ambulance services to nearly 90% of New Zealanders in 97% of New Zealand’s geographic locations. The ambulance service is the emergency arm of the health sector, receiving more than 645,500 111 calls for an ambulance in the last year. Our 4,428 paid staff, 7,911 volunteers and 4,981 youth members and leaders touch the lives of more than one million people each year. On call around the clock,  Hato Hone St John cares for people, every day. We are playing an increasing role in meeting the broader health needs of New Zealanders. We have a portfolio of complementary health services that are designed to make communities more resilient, and we work in partnership to develop strong communities that care, share and volunteer.     Charges

    Hato Hone St John charges patients for some types of ambulance call outs. The amount we charge is a small part of the cost of a call out and is needed to cover our costs. Please click here to read about our ambulance charges.
