Nga Tangata Microfinance Trust

    Nga Tangata Microfinance Trust was established in 2010 by the Child Poverty Action Group, the New Zealand Council of Christian Social Services and the New Zealand Federation of Family Budgeting Services (NZFFBS). The loan capital is provided by Kiwibank. Good Shepherd Microfinance (GSM), operating in Australia since 1982, has provided advice, support and information.

    The organisation has a vision is to alleviate poverty by building a more just and equitable society through promoting the economic and social wellbeing of all those living in Aotearoa New Zealand. Our contribution towards the achievement of this is by advocating for and assisting in the provision of safe, fair and affordable finance options that strengthen financial independence and inclusion.

    Getting support through Ngā Tāngata

    Ngā Tāngata provides GetControl Interest Free Loan (up to $5000).

    These loans help with costs like education fees, appliances, medical costs, vehicle repairs or paying off high-interest debt. The programme is about more than the loan, it's about providing customers with the financial capability through budgeting and mentoring to help break the cycle of poverty.
