Lead alert update - Second community meeting rescheduled

Issue date:

From Southern DHB and Dunedin City Council

The public meeting planned for Friday, 5 March has been postponed due to COVID-19 Alert Level 2 requirements. The meeting is now rescheduled for Wednesday, 10 March at the East Otago Events Centre, Waikouaiti, from 7-9 pm*.

Public Health South and the Dunedin City Council will report their findings relating to lead levels in the Waikouaiti/Karitane/Hawksbury Village water supply. Results of blood tests taken over the past few weeks will be discussed and the DCC will update the community on its investigations into potential causes of the elevated lead levels detected in the water supply, as well as next steps.

Thank you for your understanding as we observe the requirements of COVID-19 Alert Level 2.

* If we are not back to Alert Level 1 by time of the rescheduled meeting, we will consult with the Waikouaiti Coast Community Board, and provide a further update. Please check the DCC website if the alert level changes. https://www.dunedin.govt.nz/news-and-events/public-notices/alerts/water-notice
