Eme Cosh’s New Zealand holiday didn’t quite go to plan after a mountain biking accident in Queenstown, but she and her parents have nothing but praise for the Health NZ Southern staff who cared for her.
Flown to Southland Hospital from the Lakes District she underwent surgery for a significant orthopaedic injury and was later repatriated back to the United Kingdom.
Now back home with her parents recuperating, Eme says she was quite upset and scared as she was on holiday on her own.
“Having chats with the nurses and especially Rachel Wallace keeping me updated and keeping in touch with my parents made things so much easier for me.
“Thank you to the amazing staff who comforted me when I cried and for the ice-lollies.”
Eme’s parents Clodagh and Russell Cosh also extend their heartfelt gratitude to staff for the exceptional care provided.
“As her parents, who are far away in the UK, we were understandably anxious during this challenging time.
“However, from the moment Eme arrived in Invercargill by helicopter from the Lakes District, we were overwhelmed by the phenomenal support she received.
“Lone Jensen at Southland provided us with invaluable reassurance during our first call, and Rachel Wallace’s daily support, encouragement and organisation were truly uplifting.
“We are immensely grateful for their dedication, which played a crucial role in Eme's swift recovery and safe return to us.”
“The entire team involved in Eme's surgery and her repatriation to the UK is a true testament to the excellence of Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora.
“Your Dr Gow's commitment, as Chief Medical Officer, to ‘improving outcomes for our patients’ is clearly reflected in the extraordinary care we experienced firsthand.
“Thank you all, from the bottom of our hearts, for your unwavering support and compassion during this difficult time. We will forever be grateful for everything you have done for our daughter.”
