blokes and a bookcase

Blokes, banter and a bespoke bookcase

Campaign type:

What happens when you put a bunch of retired blokes together in a shed? A part from the yarns and cups of tea – you get a beautiful handcrafted bookcase, soon to be proudly boasting a colourful array of books in the Dunedin Hospital staff café.

This is all thanks to the gents at the Taieri Blokes Shed in Mosgiel - a space which brings men together, creating friendships and working on meaningful projects which give back to their community.

And they’ve done just that – kindly donating a Lilliput bookcase to the Dunedin Hospital staff café.

Lilliput libraries are located on residential fence lines across Dunedin, with the premise being passers-by can ‘take a book now and leave a book later’. The books are free for anyone to take.

Service Manager Heather Fleming says the donation is warmly welcomed by hospital staff, who can soon enjoy perusing and reading the books on offer.

“This was such a lovely donation which will be used for years to come,” she says. “We would like to warmly thank the Taieri Blokes Shed and Lilliput Libraries for their generosity and kindness.”

Staff are welcome to donate books and will soon be able to find the bookcase in the Dunedin Hospital staff café.
