The New Zealand Doctors’ Orchestra is thrilled to present

Dvořák – New World Symphony (no 9)
Brahms – Academic Overture
Sejourné – Marimba Concerto
Ritchie – Hippocratic Hymn
Marimba – Rachel Thomas
Conductor – Peter Adams

as part of the University of Otago 150th anniversary celebrations

The orchestra is made up of around 70 doctors and medical students from throughout New Zealand.  Half of the doctors are graduates from the University of Otago.

Soloist Rachel Thomas, is an Auckland medical student and freelance musician (a percussionist) who plays in various ensembles in the Auckland region.  She has won national awards for her performances and has played in some of New Zealand’s top orchestras and brass bands.

Conductor Peter Adams, Associate Professor of Music at the University of Otago, is a well-regarded conductor of orchestras and bands in Dunedin and nationally.

Composer Anthony Ritchie, Professor of Music at the University of Otago, has written the Hippocratic Hymn especially for this concert.   

All proceeds from ticket sales donated to the  Otago Community Hospice
