Public Health South's role is to enquire into and report on alcohol license applications, promote and monitor host responsibility practices, provide training and encourage the implementation of alcohol harm reduction strategies.

Host responsibility for the sale and supply of alcohol

The Medical Officer of Health and health promotion advisors work with Police and Licensing Inspectors under a statutory framework to address any concerns. Public health and licensing partners conduct monitoring and Controlled Purchase Operations to ensure compliance from licensees, management and staff.
