Brief for website project so far

We are currently developing the Information Architecture Approach and Content Strategy for the new site. This is

At this stage, we know that the new website will act as an promotion and information hub that will link the audience to other credible sources where and if needed.

Our vision is for a whole-of-system, patient-centred, online presence that will enable:

  • Patients and the community to waste less time finding the information they need, and be directed towards the service that’s right for them
  • A more coherent presentation of all of the services available across the Southern health system, and the shared purpose and unified effort of providers
  • Two-way communication, through clear question and feedback processes, integration with social media, and links to online consultation channels
  • Support for technology enabled advancements for patient experience, for example to assist with access to self-service portals and online appointment bookings
  • Infrastructure to support health literacy initiatives
  • Greater opportunities to share our plans, vision, values and stories, and share our important messages and information
  • Better ability to manage emergency messaging
  • Ability to develop additional tools and opportunities into the future.

On high level it will have:

  • An inviting and engaging homepage that links users to tailored content for their needs including health campaigns, or emergency messaging.

  • Quick links for people who need help now.

  • A user centred service provider search via Healthpoint (including location data, services provided, opening hours, visiting hours).

  • Information and tools that will explain what services are available for their specific needs.

  • Information and tools that will help the audience to navigate the health system and access the right services if and when they need it.

  • Information about a healthy lifestyle and prevention, including current campaigns and links to credible sources.

  • News and current health campaigns.

  • Information about how to provide feedback about services providers and where to get help.

  • Information for the health sector and health professionals.

  • Alert and emergency panel with future opportunities to develop tools such as text alerts.

  • Information for job seekers.

  • Information about Southern DHB - e.g. dates and agendas for commissioner meetings, annual reports, other reports.
