    We are here to help and support people and their families/whanau affected by stroke. It can be challenging when it happens to you or to someone close, but many New Zealanders who have had a stroke go on to live healthy, functional lives.

    Services Provided

    Stroke Support

    We have stroke clubs supporting physical exercise & social contact.

    We provide information, support and referrals (on to appropriate services) on healthy living e.g. quit smoking, gym programmes & green prescriptions, exercise groups, healthy eating.

    Support everyone involved to exercise, make good choices and take control over their lives.

    We provide support with accessing a needs assessor when needed and advocate for the family and the person who has had a stroke with the health sector and government agencies.

    Youth Support

    We provide support and can apply for funding for various needs - social activities, gym memberships, community activities.

    Home support
    We support the family/ whanau with referral for a needs assessment if required, do home visitation providing information on respite services, carer support groups, other resources to support & inform carers.

    Information & support
    • Provide ongoing support, advice and information on strokes to families/whanau. 
    • Inform of the impact of stroke on the family and lifestyle patterns.
    • Provide information on the code of health and disability (consumer rights), abuse and neglect and challenging incidents.
    Asian support services
    We respect and acknowledge the rights of the clients and their cultural needs and we have resources available in Asian languages and links to Asian support services.
    Kaupapa Māori

    We respect and acknowledge the rights of the clients and their cultural needs and have a Maori advisor who works with IWI & can provide support to the whanau & stroke person. 

    We have brochures available in Maori.

    Pacific People
    We respect and acknowledge the rights of the clients and their cultural needs and we have a Pacific Island advisor for relevant support. We have brochures available in Samoan, Tongan & Cook Island.
    Transport

    We provide information on:

    • hospital transport/shuttles
    • disability transport
    • we complete Auckland transport applications for 1/2 price taxis (Total Mobility Scheme).
    We provide active assistance to clients in transit from hospital to home.
