Community Networks Wanaka

    Community Networks Wanaka is your local resource hub for social wellbeing services. We aim to inform people of and connect them with available support services and coordinate community support services. 

    Services we provide or assist with access to include:

    • Welfare (including foodbank, budgeting and social workers) 
    • Counselling and access to counselling funding
    • Social services (including senior services and the Total Mobility scheme)
    • Local community services (including a JP service, transport to hospitals, Community Law and Meals on Wheels)
    • Government agencies (including IRD and WINZ assistance, Immigration NZ and passport forms)
    Abuse and violence

    We can provide information and referrals to social workers and support groups.

    Advocacy
    Basic needs

    We offer food parcels to individuals and families in need in the Upper Clutha region. The foodbank is open to anyone and people can come in on specific days during business hours.  After a brief interview which determines people's financial and social situation, clients are supported with a food parcel.     We are able to assist with the costs of seeing a counsellor/therapist. Read more here

    Education and training

    We can provide referrals and information about skills courses such as IT training for Older People.

    Legal / civil services
    • IRD 
    • Community Law (visit monthly)
    • Justice of the Peace (visit twice weekly)

    We can also provide information about other services such as Legal Aid, Work and Income and Immigration NZ.

    Social work

    We can provide referrals to social workers for all ages and issues.

    Supporting financial independence

    We can provide referrals to free budgeting services. 

    Senior services

    We can provide information about support services for seniors including Meals on Wheels and assist with Total Mobility scheme applications.

    We can arrange bookings with:
