Te Kāika Wellbeing Hub Opening Date

Issue date:

Te Kāika is thrilled to announce the date of 1May 2024 as the official opening the Wellbeing Hub in Caversham, Dunedin. Working in partnership with Te Whatu Ora Southern and the Ministry of Social Development (MSD), this milestone is a highly anticipated positive step made possible by Naylor Love.

This purpose-built facility will bring our three organisations together under one roof - with our combined service approach, He Korowai Manaaki (a cloak of care and support). We will create a welcoming environment where whānau and community can have all of their needs met across primary health care and social services. Te Kāika is working in partnership with local authorities to create a traffic management plan to ensure the safety and accessibility of the Hub for community and whānau.

Te Kāika CEO Matt Matahaere, expressed excitement about the opening, stating “This is years in the making really, as we look to give life to the direction of my board; They have always wanted a place where all whānau and community can come to get all of their needs met. It is about building infrastructure that will outlast those who built it. The exciting thing for all of us here, is building stronger communities, one in which people will have a chance to make their way in life.”

The Hub will be open to the public from 1st May 2024 and the partnership look forward to serving whānau from their new shared location.
