Measles Immunisation Programme
15-30 year olds – coming soon
The Associate Minister of Health has announced a National Measles Campaign, to improve immunity against measles for people aged 15-30 years.
The year-long campaign will provide free immunisation for measles, mumps and rubella.
The aim is to reach people and protect them from these potentially serious diseases, especially those people who do not regularly visit a doctor, nurse or other health care provider.
The Southern DHB, WellSouth and health care providers are planning a measles campaign for our region over the next year. Our aim is to reach out to everyone in this age range, in different communities including our primary care enrolled populations, Maori, Pacific peoples, seasonal workers, people within the disability sector, and young people who are working, to provide the programme. We are also considering a school based programme for 15-17 year olds.
Together, we want to enable people by giving them the information to protect themselves and their whānau against this common but potentially serious disease. And we will keep you informed about local initiatives as they are planned.
