Home as my First Choice

Campaign type:

The Home as My First Choice programme is committed to helping you, or members of your family, maintain health and independence in your community and home.

It starts from asking the question, 'If home is my first choice, what support needs to be in place to enable this to happen?

Daphne's Story

Daphne was in hospital for nine weeks following a stroke. She was determined to recover in the comfort of her own home and to continue living there. Daphne was able to do this with the support of Te Whatu Ora Southern home support services. Daphne tells her story in the video below.

If you want to find out more information, talk to your healthcare professional in your ward, or call 0800 627 236. Talking with someone allows us to explore all options with you, and then we can put you in touch with a clinical needs assessor team member to look at how home can become your first choice.
