A commissioner team was appointed in 2015 to govern the Southern District Health Board, to bring the organisation to a stronger and more sustainable position.
Kathy is supported by three deputy commissioners: Richard Thomson, who previously served as chair of the Otago District Health Board and an elected board member on the Southern District Health Board; retired oncologist Dr David Perez, who was the previous chair of the Clinical Leadership Group, to provide clinical input into the design of the New Dunedin Hospital; and Jean O'Callaghan, formerly the chief executive of Canterbury DHB, Bedford Hospital NHS Trust, Dorset County Hospital Foundation Trust and Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust.
Commissioner’s Public Forum - Open to the Public
Members of the public are welcome to attend the public forum and Hospital Advisory Committee meeting, to be held in the Board Room, Community Services Building, Southland Hospital Campus, Invercargill, commencing at 9 am on Thursday, 26 September 2019, or view them by videolink from the Board Room, Level 2, West Wing, Main Block, Wakari Hospital campus, 371 Taieri Road, Dunedin.
Commissioners Advisory Committee Meetings
The Commissioner team has three committees that meet regularly to support them in their governance role:
- Disability Support Advisory Committee (DSAC)
- Community and Public Health Advisory Committee (CPHAC)
- Hospital Advisory Committee (HAC)
The first two meetings are joint and start after the public forum finishes at 9:30am. The third meeting starts when the previous meetings finish.
